The stainless steel German Navy SLD (Signal und Leucht Doppelschussmodel - "signal and light double shot model) was adopted by the Kreigsmarine in 1936 and was used to the end of WWII. Approximately 4,000 were made by Walther. They were issued to battleships and U-Boats. In addition, Walther made a handful of similar single barrel signal pistols.
