These types of alterations have a somewhat crude hammer brazed to the base of the original flintlock hammer and the nipple screwed in to the old pan leaving the rear fence intact. Spencer carbine made in Belgium. Top of frame marked:"Union Armuriere, Belge, Liege". Stock is cartouched "Famsse & Trapmann, Liege 1873" (probably they were the retailers). This is an excellent period copy. Has mint bore with 6 groove rifling, 20" barrel and no stabeler cutoff. Extremely well made. You would certainly think this was a Spencer made in America, but it is Belgian!
