The front part of the stock has been replaced approximately the last 28” towards the muzzle.

Northwest fur trading rifle with two-stage 46.75" barrel, dated 1812 on the tail of the lock. The left side of the rifle has a serpent, which was a common indicator for fur trading rifles. many of these rifles were shortened later for practicality. The action works and the hammer holds on full and half cock. The stock is very good. Overall a very good example.
