U.S. Springfield Model 1816 Converted Musket. This musket was converted from flintlock to percussion using the Belgian Style Alteration. Metal is dark with surface pitting. Stock shows handling and usage wear. The letter “I” is carved in the wrist and the letter “X” is carved by the rear barrel spring. These muskets were heavily used by the time the Civil War broke out.

Stock is in great condition, does have period carving of initials “W.K. 68, E.K. 14, T.K.18” and “C.K. 64” at wrist. These initials are very interesting, as all end with “K”. It could be a family that fought together!
