U.S. Model 1860 Staff Officers sword by M.C. Lilley & Co Columbus, Ohio. Sharp and clear etched blade. Fittings have most of the gilding. Fine triple stand wrap on shark skin handle. This is an better than usual 1860 in that all of the details in the casting is very sharp. The eagle on the pommel holds a banner and the “E Pluribus Unum” motto is crystal clear. Most are leather wrapped handles...

Apparently and award or gift, from Schuetzen Verein or shooting club. Inscription is well done but lightly inscribed. Sword is well used and has part of the sharkskin wrap missing from handle. Blade etching is all there but worn. Priced very reasonably.
