  • Factory Engraved Merwin & Hulbert Large Frame Open Top Revolver. .44-40 Caliber. Very fine gun that is factory engraved with the typical Merwin & Hulbert style. This gun has a Mexican Eagle with snake on the left hand side of the frame. The right hand side of the frame has a boat with a village beside it engraved. Cylinder is the scooped flute variation. Grips are pearls and both sides have chipping. This gun has old nickel finish, not original, but period. All markings are nice and sharp. Very fine factory engraved Merwin & Hulbert with Mexican Eagle!

Nice sharp gun overall with trace amounts of blue on the barrel flats, but overall a light brownish gray patina on metal. This is a military inspected gun. No signs of a cartouche are on the grips. Rare 7 ¾” barrel length. Grips and bore are excellent. Unusual to find a Whitney Conversion. Rear of cylinder has the transition plate eliminating the percussion system.   • Adams Patent English Percussion Revolver. Top strap marked “Reilly New Oxford Street London”. Caliber .45. Grip has an oval silver inlay inscribed “To Red from Mount”. The engraved buttcap has a trap for extra Percussion caps. Barrel length is 5 ¾” length, overall length approximately 12 ½”. Grip checkering is excellent. The action works perfectly. This revolver is engraved with fine tendrils of scrolling foliate. The bore has very good rifling and areas of some corrosion. The revolver has approximately 90% of its high polish dark blue with some areas of staining and very light pitting. The overall appearance is very good even with the light stains as mentioned. These Adams and Tranter revolvers are very well made and tastefully engraved and have a striking appeal.
