  • Raphael Revolver.
This is a fantastic example with gorgeous chiseled work. The grips are ebony and beautifully carved floral and tendril patterns with contrasting background stippling and most unusual. These Raphael revolvers were named for the arms dealer who sold them to the U.S government for the Civil War. The actual manufacturer was a French firm of Pidault-Cordier model 1860. Caliber 11 mm. The revolvers for the U.S Government were not fancy or chiseled or fitted with deluxe grips. 106 revolvers were purchased on September 1861 from George Raphael Company. This rare revolver has several features, the loading system being one. The condition is excellent. Barrel length 5 7/8” and overall length is 10 ½”. • Unusual Brass Barreled Flintlock Blunderbuss.
The overall length is 26”. The 12 ¼” octagon to round barrel measures 1 3/8” at the muzzle. The first 5” of the barrel are octagon ending in a three band wedding band. The barrel has three proof marks, a crown over co, a crown over an indistinct figure, and a crown over V? The barrel is nicely engraved from muzzle to breech. The scroll like sideplate incorporates a fantsy creature. The brass triggerguard and butt plate have decorative engraving. The lock has use wear, it has border lines with the cock having light engraving. It appears that the lock is marked “Wm Hollet” but this is indistinct. The stock is good whit several wood repairs. The ramrod is present. The action functions correctly. We are unsure of the country of origin of this fine blinderbuss. There is also a decorative Escutcheon on the top of the wrist. This would be a great piece for a Blunderbuss collection.

  • Liege Belgium Proofed Special System Pistol.
Special system for opening and loading. Under the forend there is a lever which opens the breech block which rotates to allow loading a bullet and case (we assume) that is a case like a maynard type with a small hole in the case to accept fire when the hammer falls. On the opposite side of the breech block there is a stud that looks like a percussion nipple but is solid steel, not hollow, but would accept a percussion cap. So when returned to battery position the breech block locks up and the hammer falls on a striker which contacts the percussion cap and ignites the powder /bullet. Very unusual pistol and very well made in excellent condition. Barrel length 9” and is 15” overall. Pistol is factory engraved in scrolls and geometric patterns. The barrel has a banded alternating Damascus pattern. Bore is multi-groove and is approximately .34 caliber. Bore is excellent. There is a screw in buttcap that opens to an extra ball compartment. This is one of the most ingenious special system pistols we have ever seen. Any one who knows the marker (No name on the pistol but has a liege proof) Please let us know!

  • Pair of Belgian Flintlock Turn Off Barrel pistols.
Pair of Belgian Flintlock turn off barrel pistols with “hideout” belt/holster rig. The pistols have folding triggers. They have sliding hammer safeties. The frames are very tastefully engraved on both sides. The stocks are beautifully carved and fluted on the backstrap. The checkering is excellent with no damage. The barrels are 2 ½”ths inches overall length is six inches. The holsters are leather and can slide left and right on the red leather belt which measures 38 inches. The belt is linen backed. It is very rare to find one of these rare hideout rigs. They are also referred to as Gamblers hideout rigs. Considering the fragile nature of the belt and holsters this in our opinion is a rare find. You can find more info in Flaydermans Guide to American Antique guns, 9th edition, page 432 which shows examples of hideout rigs including a photo of Norm Flayderman dressed as a Gambler and wearinga pair of pistols in a holster rig much like this one.
