U.S. Springfield Model 1879 Trapdoor .45-70 Govt caliber rifle. U.S. military rifle. Lock is dated 1883. Breech block is dated 1873 with original case colors. Wood has a sharp cartouche. Bore has strong rifling. Barrel retains high blue. Very good overall condition. A fine 1879 model.
