In his book, Roberts Breechloading Firearms, by Edward Hull, He describes the short and long frame post Civil War conversions of both U.S. muskets and Enfield rifles (work mostly done at Providence Tool and Die Company). Mr. Hull further provides examples of these well-made conversions to several European and South American countries. If you purchase a Robert Conversion of any kind, we recommend you buy a copy of Mr. Hulls excellent book. This rifle probably saw no service. The metal parts are excellent, the wood shows only storage dings. Bore is perfect. Left side of frame marked “Roberts Pat June 11, 1867”.
