Scarce Palmetto Cavalry Saber. This sword was part of a 1000 sword contract by the state of South Carolina in 1852. South Carolina felt that war with the union was eminent and ordered muskets, swords and pistols. This sword is in very good condition. The blade is in nice polish and has been lightly cleaned. The ricasso bears the proper marking and is guaranteed original. The brass has a nice uncleaned appearance. The wire wrapping is a little loose and while leather remains underneath, wood is also exposed. Very nice example of a confederate used cavalry saber that is guaranteed original!
