U.S. Springfield Model 1873 Trapdoor .45-70 (AL5017)

U.S. Springfield Model 1873 Trapdoor .45-70 caliber rifle. Early model 1873 Springfield Trapdoor rifle. Barrel looks to have been from a “Model 1879”, as it has the 1879 buckhorn rear sight and large “V/P/” over eagle head. Bluing is starting to turn to patina. Bore is bright with strong rifling. All metal parts are a light grey patina. Breech block is a high arch. Hammer is the second type with the oval stamped knurling. Serial number is 21062. Wood is good, shows minor use and handling wear. An inspectors’ mark is noted rear of the trigger guard. This is a very good looking trapdoor rifle!
