British trials rifle with Krnka type action made by Tower in 1867. Overall length is approximately 48½” The 32” round .577 centerfire caliber barrel has a very good bore. The barrel has approximately 95% blue. The lock, bands, and breechblock are bright. The brass nose cap, trigger guard, and butt plate are fine. The stock is excellent with no cracks or chips. Barrel has the normal proofs and caliber (25) markings. It is numbered “333”. The breech is marked “Cornish’s Patent”. Lock is marked “Tower/ 1867” at the center. It has the typical crown to the rear. Stock has a very small “333” to the rear of the trigger guard tang. The left butt is also marked “333” with what appears to be a pair of “C’s” facing each other above. The trigger guard has “S S Muller” engraved on the tang. The action operates by placing the hammer on half-cock and swinging the breechblock to the right. Action functions correctly. This is a wonderful example of an 1860s British Trials rifle. There were many different types with this being one of the more interesting ones. If you collect English Trials rifles or early centerfire rifles, this would defiantly fit your collection. This is the only example we have ever encountered. Don’t miss it!
