The Beaumont-Adams revolver of 1855 is significant as this was the first true double action revolver to be produced in commercial quantities. The cylinder has a small area of light roughness where it lay in the case and the triggerguard is turning brown. The right side of the frame is marked B16,236/ADAMS' PATENT. No. 31909. R. The cylinder is marked 31909/R. The barrel left oblique flat is marked LAC/crown circle P proof/crown/V proof. Each chamber of the cylinder is inspected with a crown/V. The right frame barrel lump has a crown over LA/C logo in a shield. The grips are excellent with fine checkering and no chips or cracks. The action functions perfectly. Included in the case are the correct two-cavity mold marked with a crown over an oval reading REGISTERED ADAMS with 28 Nov./1851 inside that. It is also marked 54 which is the bore designation (.442). Also included in the case are an excellent Dixon bag flask, a C & J.W. Hawksley marked oil bottle, a screwdriver, a small leather bag containing a cap tin with the Ely tin label on the front of the bag, and several bullets. The case partitions are intact with a few areas of wear and the oak case is very good with no cracks or chips and a well-fitted lid. This is a super cased Beaumont-Adams revolver that is fit for the finest collection.
