Royal Portuguese Army Model 1906 Luger (PR51011)

This caliber 7.65mm (30 Luger) Royal Portuguese Army Model 1906 Luger has the royal crest of Manuel II on the top of the receiver. Approx. 5,000 of this model were made. Serial numbers are matching except for the magazine plug which is a replacement and is unnumbered. The bore is excellent. The action works perfectly. Note that the barrel and receiver and toggle assembly are all original blue. The side plate is refinished and is a light brown patina. The grip straps have a light brown patina. The grips are good plus with light wear and the left grip has a very small chip out of the top rear at the safety lever. (This is a common occurrence with Lugers as the grip fit at the safety lever is too tight.) Note that the Manuel II royal crest has been accented by using a lacquer stick to enhance it so you can see it easily. The use of lacquer sticks to highlight markings on all sorts of guns, particularly with Lugers and Mausers, has been in use for at least 50 years. Collectors use them when displaying their collections. The lacquer comes off easily with a little oil or alcohol. Please don't think that filling in markings is chicanery, IT IS NOT! It is only to show you the markings. The 1906 Portuguese Lugers are scarce pistols. This example is very reasonably priced at $2,150.
