Swedish Naval Percussion Belt Pistol (AH5920)
This Swedish Navy belt hook percussion pistol is an alteration of an earlier Swedish flintlock Naval pistol to percussion. It is similar to the Swedish Model 1845 Navy pistol. The overall length is approx. 16.75". The approx. 9.5" octagon to round 63 caliber smooth bore barrel has a fine bore with some roughness toward the chamber. There is a wedding band approx. 4.25" from the muzzle. The barrel has a brass blade front sight. The notched block rear sight is part of the barrel tang. With the exception of a barely discernable inspection sink mark on the lock the barrel and lock are unmarked. It is probable that any other marks were removed by polishing during the alteration to percussion. The metal is bright with very light staining. The brass band, trigger guard, and butt cap have an even aged patina. The iron belt hook is 5.25" long. The stock, which appears to be dark-stained birch, is very good with the dents and dings expected of an issue naval weapon but with no cracks or chips. The stock backstrap has provisions for the attachment of a shoulder stock. The action functions properly. Don't miss this one. We have never had another one.
