This fine English flintlock officer's pistol by Tatham & Egg is circa 1810. Henry Tatham (1770-1835) was a partner with Joseph Egg at 37 Charing Cross, London, from 1801 to 1814. The overall length is approx. 14". The 9" round 65 caliber smooth bore barrel with flat top has a very good bore. The top rib is marked in script Tatham & Egg London. The bottom of the barrel has two London proof marks with 1142 between them. The barrel is bright with a small blade front sight and standing notch rear sight. The lock, which is attached with a single screw, is marked in script Tatham & Egg. It has an edge line and engraving at the tail. The cock has edge lines and decorative features. The lock has a roller frizzen, double bridle pan, and safety which does not appear to be functional. All the metal is bright. The trigger guard and butt cap have decorative engraving. The trigger guard bow is sized for a gloved hand. The brass tipped ramrod is present. The stock is very good with a checkered wrist, light usage dents and dings, and no cracks or chips. The action functions correctly. This fine officer's pistol is ready for a British flintlock pistol or officer/s pistol collection.
