Civil War Maynard Carbine (AL6018)
This 50 caliber percussion second model Maynard carbine was produced circa 1864. Maynard company literature called it the Model 1863. This gun is complete and is in "attic condition". The bore has visible rifling with firing corrosion. The barrel has a brown patina with with scattered light to moderate pitting. The front and rear sights are present. The frame is brown with light pitting and with the markings on the right and left visible but generally unreadable. The serial number, 13408, on the lower tang is strong. The stock is good with two strong cartouches, missing wood on the top forward of the butt plate tang and on the lower right toe. The action functions correctly. This gun has the "been there, done that" look. If it only could talk!
