Portuguese Model 1886 Kropatschek Short Rifle 8x60R (AL7115)
The Austrian Steyr 8X60R mm caliber Kropatschek short rifle was sold to Portugal. Only 4,800 short rifles were produced, making them far harder to find than the more common rifle and carbine. The 26" barrel has an excellent bore with bright, strong rifling. The gun has a smooth brown patina overall. The left side of the receiver is marked OE.W.F.G. STEYR over 1886 followed by the Portuguese crest followed by M1886. With the exception of the bolt head, the serial numbers are matching. The stock is very good with issue dents and dings with the most significant on the left above the trigger. The round Portuguese issue and acceptance stamps are visible on the left and right butt. The swivels, and what is most most likely an original sling, are present. The left side cleaning rod is present. The action, including the magazine cut-off, functions correctly. Don't miss this scarce Portuguese Kropatschek short rifle!
