Model 1841 U.S. Percussion Rifle (AL5465)
This good representative example of the Mississippi rifle was manufactured by Eli Whitney. The 61 caliber bore is dark and fair. A rear sight has been added and there is a filled dovetail forward of the rear sight. The metal has a smooth brown patina and the brass has an even aged patina. The stock is fair with a dark finish added and usage dents and dings. The forearm is cut. under the rear band. The swivels and a replacement ramrod are present. The action functions correctly. This rifle would be a good filler in a starting collection.
