This 1893 model revolving carbine was made in Belgium by H. Pieper of Liege. These 9 shot revolving cylinder 8mm Pieper caliber carbines were used by the Mexican Rurales. The action is similar to the 1895 "gas seal" Nagant revolver. The overall length is approx. 37.5". The interior of the frame and cylinder crane are stamped with the serial number, 399. There are no other markings visible. The barrel length is approx. 19.5". The bore is dark with visible rifling. The exterior of the barrel is heavily worn and pitted. DO NOT EVEN THINK ABOUT SHOOTING IT! The frame has scattered light to medium pitting throughout. The buttstock is good with usage dents and dings and an added hole for a wire sling swivel. The brass buttplate is a field replacement. The two piece forend, which used to extend to the muzzle, is fair. It was shortened approx. 9" during its period of use and a crude wire swivel added. It is secured by an added 1" wide iron barrel band. The action is loose but functions. Without a doubt, this Pieper carbine saw extensive service during the Mexican revolution. It priced to reflect its condiion and is ready for your collection.
