Serial number 1211. Made circa later 1850s. 31 caliber with a 4” barrel. This gun is factory engraved and in excellent original condition. The barrel has 95% + of the original blue. The  frame has most of the original silver plating. This gun comes in its original box with the “japaned” tin box for the ammo. The end label of the box is marked “PLATED & ENGRAVED” This gun is inscribed on the butt “Theodore H. Rockwood,/ From the/ First Baptist Choir, / New Haven.” Theodore H. Rockwood was born in New Haven Connecticut in 1836 and received this beautiful pistol form the First Baptist Choir under unknown circumstances.  He was a Lieutenant of the 1st Connecticut Heavy Artillery. He then joined the 19th regiment of U. S. Colored Troops as a staff sergeant. He was later killed at the Battel of the Crater on July 30th 1864. This is an exceptional piece not just in condition or the fact the original cardboard box remains, but also in a historical sense with this gun being presented and owned by an officer who was KIA in the battel of the crater.
