U.S. Model 1855 Pistol carbine with Stock .58 caliber (AH8418)

NSN, circa 1855, .58 caliber, 12 round proofed barrel. Barrel is in the white with scattered oxidation visible, mostly noted around the bolster. Barrel is marked with "V/P/Eagle". Tang is dated 1855. Lock plate is marked "U.S./Springfield", primer compartment has spread wing Eagle, rear of hammer is marked "1855" It is noted that a partial Maynard tape primer is still inside. Stock shows rounding along the edges, partial outline of a cartouche on the left side. An old repair is visible along the wrist right side. Brass butt cap is stamped with the number "17". Buttstock is a reproduction and has been aged, action holds at half and full cock.
