WW1 Winchester Model 1897 Trench Shotgun 12 gauge (W13164) Consignment
SN: E683059. Made in 1920 with a 20-inch barrel that is chambered for the 12-gauge cartridge. Although this is a World War I-type martial 1897 Trench Gun, it does not have military acceptance marks because the gun was made after the 1918 Armistice. Nevertheless it is a true USGI solid frame 1897 Trench Gun with a heat shield that has six rows of ventilation holes & a bead front sight mounted directly to it - not the barrel. Overall condition is very good with original factory finish on the metal parts that has been worn through in some areas. There are areas of pitting on the right side of the receiver but not enough to reduce the value of the piece to any significant degree. The buttstock is in very good condition with the kind of dings, dents & scratches that one expects to see on a military service firearm that was made more than a century ago. Consignment
