Very Rare Dutch Miquelet Pistols with Solid Silver Soldier Bust Butt (AH8712)

Made circa 1650-1670. 65 caliber with 10 ½” barrels. This is an absolutely stunning pair! These guns are in superb condition with 90%+ of the gilding. The stocks are ebony and decorated with small silver inlays. The locks are Spanish and these guns certainly have a lot of Spanish influences in their design and construction. The butts are extraordinary with a half soldiers face and half Lion. The forend cap is ivory as well as the ram rod tips. These guns are very similar in style to the famous Ivory stocked Dutch Pistols produced during the same period. Legendary Collector Henk Visser did a presentation on Ivory stocked Dutch Pistols in 1985 for The American Society of Antique Arms Collectors. In his presentation, he shows pictures of his outstanding collection and actually has a set of Miquelet pistols very similar to these. Maybe a once in a life time chance to acquire a set like this!
