U.S. Marked Colt 1860 Army (C10539)

U.S. Marked Colt 1860 Army revolver. Made in 1862. This gun is completely mismatched. These guns were refurbished after the Civil War; they were completely disassembled, refinished, and put back together making no effort to match the numbers. Most were marked with a “US” on the trigger guard. These were issued to the 9th and 10th Cavalry also known as the Buffalo Soldiers or the colored units. These units did some of the most severe fighting in the Indian wars. They were issued obsolete arms while their white counterparts had the latest, greatest arms. Gun has been cleaned and has smooth gray patina. Very neat historical gun!
