U.S. Model Mississippi Rifle by Whitney. Lock is dated 1849. Correct original Whitney barrel. Barrel has a smooth gray patina. Ramrod is a replacement. Wood is very good. Cartouches have been obliterated. There is a percussion burn out around the nipple. The patch box has a spurious “CSA” marking. Very good looking Mississippi!
