Colt 1911 .45ACP (C12819)

Colt 1911 .45ACP caliber pistol. U.S. Army issue 1911 model. Shipped approximately May of 1918 most likely to Springfield Armory. This gun was made at a period when the milling marks in the metal became more prominent and the finish changed to black. NOTE: Blackening the pistol required refinishing, so the finish looks good but is refinished. Gun shows some scattered light pits under the refinished blue. Grips show wear and are probably original to this gun. Further information on these guns is in the 319XXX range and is on page 195 of Clawsone book, “Colt 45 service pistols 1911 and 1911A,” To clarify the finish, this gun was not refinished by the arsenal but by a collector or shooter later on.
