U.S. Model 1816 Flintlock Musket “National Armory Bright” (AL4219)

U.S. Model 1816 Flintlock Musket “National Armory Bright”. Harpers Ferry Arsenal. Dated 1833 on tail of lock and 1834 on breech, plus Tang. This is a Type III made from 1831-1844. This musket is in original flint not a conversion! Rare to find this third type in original flint. Cartouches on stock are perfect. There are some light dings and dents in the stock. No abuse. Note: There are numbers stamped on the lower Tang off the stock. They are: PX40ARA. They are from the period. We asked a well-known and respected collector about these numbers. He said, “He did not know for sure but ventured a guess that they may be property numbers from being issued later to a state arsenal”.
