Colt Official Police .38 Special (C9825)

Colt Official Police .38 Special caliber revolver. Engraved by the master engraver Arnold Griebel of Chicago, Illinois. This handsome boxed revolver was shipped to Defense Surplus Corp in Washington D.C. in February 11th, 1942. Box is numbered to the gun and has the “Shooting Suggestions” brochure. Gun is in like new condition. Arnold Griebel died in 1970. His work is pictured in most of the Gun Digest books up to and after his death. He was well known for his floral and tendril designs. This revolver has about 75% engraving coverage. Bottom of the butt has 3 gold inlaid initials. Grips are like new. Box is excellent. It is very possible this revolver was engraved by Griebel for someone in the government because in 1942 Colt did not engraved many guns due to the war.
