Pair of Horsemans Saddle .60 caliber pistols. These flintlock pistols are most likely made in Carlsbad (Bohemia, in the Northern Black Forest). Pistols are signed "IP" on the top of the barrels. Barrel length is 11 5/8" and overall length is 18 1/2". Manufactured circa 1730. Bore is approximately .60 caliber. Barrel is engraved with a figure of a woman with a dog. Lock depicts a man in a reclining position with two dogs. Side plate shows 3 bound slaves and two men bracing each other on horseback. The spurred butcaps depict two riders firing pistols at each other while another pair of riders show a cavalier shooting a turbaned figure falling off a horse. Both have grotesque masks. Trigger guard bow has a hunter with a fowling piece with his dog. Stocks are excellent and nicely carved. This is a beautiful pair of Carlsbad pistols in excellent condition.
