Scare 1882 Springfield Chaffee-Reese .45-70 caliber rifle. Scare 1882 Springfield Chaffee-Reese rifle. Rifle is dated 1884 and has a strong cartouche and inspectors stamp on stock. Rifle has about 98% original bluing. Bore is excellent! Wood shows minor storage and handling marks. Stock does have the name “W.V. Strohe 29 Feb 1896” carving in to it. One of the most beautiful Chaffee-Reese rifle we have seen!
