Springfield Model 1855 .58 Caliber Musket. Dated 1858. The barrel has a dark gray patina with some pitting. The pitting is mainly concentrated around the rear of the barrel between the rear sight and the beginning of the tang. Wood is very good. Cartouches are visible, but faint. This gun is all original including the Maynard tape primer door which is often a spurious replacement.
