U.S. Model 1879. Made in 1884. Metal has a brown patina. There are marks on the barrel where the barrel and frame meet and also on the breech block. The rear sight is a replacement from an earlier gun. The wood has been refinished and the wrist was repaired. Bore is bright and shiny and has been converted to a smooth bore, which gauges at .48 caliber.

Breech lock still has excellent case colors. Bore is excellent and action works well. Stock has been lightly refinished, but cartouche is visible and is dated 1892. Very good looking trapdoor.

Barrel has a Buffington rear sight. Grooved trigger. Stock has a long wrist, but has a filled hole where the cleaning rod was. Overall a good looking trapdoor converted to a carbine.

Stock has minor handling marks and unit of rack number on the right hand side of the stock, possibly ROTC? Cartouches are still sharp and visible. Bore is excellent! This model has the ramrod bayonet...

Case colors on door have turned a little dark. Lock has all of the blue. Stock is very fine with a very sharp cartouche. Extremely rare gun in really nice condition!
