Springfield Model 1879 Saddle ring Carbine (AL4277)

Springfield Model 1879 Saddle ring Carbine. Nice sharp gun! Smooth plum colored patina on barrel. Trap door and lock have mostly turned to a smooth patina. Wood is very good with nice cartouches. There is a mark on the left hand side of the butt stock near the butt plate. This gun has a star next to the serial number which significance of this is unknown. The general consensus is that it was shipped back for some sort of repair. Very fine sharp carbine.
