Maynard Sporting Rifle (AL4231)
Maynard Sporting Rifle .50-50 Maynard Caliber. This we believe to be a custom target shooters rifle from long ago. The frame is dated 1865 on the lower tang and was probably a Civil War carbine. The 32” barrel is probably a scarce barrel length from an actual “Target” model Maynard. Bore is excellent. Gun has tang rear and hooded front sights. Gun comes with a modern luggage case and has approximately 50 casings for .50-50 Maynard and a Lyman mold block for the casting of the .50 caliber bullets. It appears the previous owner from long ago stamped his name on the top barrel flat “M.Phineas”. If you like to shoot old target rifles this one may be for you!
