Sharps 1874 .40-70 (AL3384)

Sharps 1874 .40-70 caliber sporting rifle. Made in 1875. 30" octagon barrel. Gun has been modified to where it now has a ramrod underneath the barrel that goes into the custom forearms. The butt stock was also replaced and now has a checkered pistol grip. All work appears period. Similar modified guns are pictured in the Sharps book by Frank Sellers where he identifies them being modified by Slotterbeck in Los Angeles. Barrel of this rifle has full coverage blue with a slight mixture of brown patina. The case colors on the frame have a silvery appearance. Set trigger was also added at time of the conversion. Action locks up tight and the bore is excellent. Very nice attractive gun!
