This complete cased set of French percussion folding trigger pistols is very interesting. The pistols have an unusual swinging barrel system that is released by a button on the bottom forward projection. While they are unmarked, they have French characteristics and workmanship and the case inside liner is marked COLLIN, A ROUEN. The overall length is approx. 7.25". The 3.25" octagon to round 36 caliber barrel has hair rifling (many, many lands and grooves). The bores are very good. The barrels have a grape and leaf motif around the muzzle and decorative engraving on the octagon portion at the transition to round. The square action has a right mounted hammer. The frame, lower barrel support bottom and sides, folding trigger area, and butt cap are engraved. All metal is bright with scattered brown staining. The finely checkered ebony grips are fine with no cracks or chips. The sides behind the action are carved in a floral fan shape. The grip butt caps swing open to reveal a cavity for caps. The actions, including the folding triggers, function correctly. The French fitted case measures 10.25" X 5 7/8" X 2 1/8". It is very good with some veneer missing on the inside top edge and bottom front. The accessories include a bullet mold, powder dipper, empty gutta percha threaded cap container, and wood ramrod. There are two compartments with lids, one containing a single ball. The maroon velvet liner is intact with the expected age wear on a couple of edges. This is a very nice and complete cased French folding trigger percussion pistol set. If you like cased sets, this one is for you.
