The Chilean Navy bought 842 9mm Largo Astra Model 400 (1921) pistols in 1930. The serial range is 36,359 to 37,200. This gun is serial number 36,488. The 5.75" barrel has a very good bore with light firing wear and frosting in the grooves. The top rear of the slide is marked ESPERANZA Y UNCETA over GUERNICA ESPANA over PISTOLA DE 9M/M over MODELO 1921. The top forward part of the slide is marked just to the rear of the front sight with a star followed by MARINA DE CHILE. There are Spanish proof marks on the frame, slide, and barrel. The serial number matches on the frame, slide, and barrel. The gun retains approx. 92% of its blue military finish with the expected military holster wear. The plastic grips are fine with no cracks or chips. The action functions correctly. This pistol is not import marked. This pistol is a must for any South American military pistol collection.
