Freund Marked Sharps 1874 Sporting .40 caliber (AL3663)

Freund Marked Sharps 1874 Sporting .40 caliber rifle. Interesting gun! Early Hartford gun with all of the features, namely the “Hartford Collar” or pewter forearm tip. 28” barrel in .40 caliber. Bore is bright and shiny with some spots of pitting. Gun was originally sold to General Hawley in Connecticut, then was returned and it was shipped to JP Lower. This gun has set triggers. Wood is very good. Butt plate is a brass replacement. Most interesting on this gun is the Freund marking on the barrel. The Freund Brothers was a famous family of gunsmiths who operated in Montana and Colorado. This is a really neat Western Sharps!
