Japanese Letter Opener. Meiji period. Unsigned. Blade is a running vine with leaves and fruit. Handle is a basket of flowers on a basket weave background with a dragonfly circling overhead. Reverse is of a butterfly in high relief silver, copper, and brass. Produced by former fitting experts after Haitorei Edict banning the wearing of samurai swords.
