The Model 1803 U.S. flintlock rifle was the first rifle made by a federal armory. This reconverted to flintlock rifle is one of 15,703 made at Harpers Ferry between 1814 and 1820. The 36' octagon to round approx. 60 caliber (originally 54 caliber) barrel has a fine bore with strong rifling. This U.S. Model 1842 69 caliber musket is ready to hang on your wall. With the exception of the ramrod, it is all there. The metal has a brown patina with light surface roughness. The hammer can be moved but it does not hold cock. The wood is fair with a crack at the front of the lock. Clean it up and restore it or use the parts for another gun.
