Since their introduction in the mid-nineteenth century, Colt guns have revolutionized the industrial firearms business through and through. Founded in 1836 by American industrialist Samuel Colt, Colt’s Patent Fire-Arms Manufacturing Company (now known as Colt’s Manufacturing Company) is considered largely responsible for the popularity and mass production of the revolver and has been creating quality firearms since.

Colt 3rd Model Dragoon 8” Barrel.
Made in 1860. .44 Caliber with a rare 8” barrel. All markings are sharp. Metal has been cleaned. The cylinder does not have much cylinder scene to speak of, but has a clear serial number. All serial numbers on this gun match. Grips show wear, but are good overall. The muzzle of this gun match shows some rouding at the barrel indicating a lot of carry wear. This is a very rare gun with a 8” barrel and this is a pretty good example since these guns were used so hard.

Made in 1879. .45 Caliber with a 5 ½” barrel. Barrel has a smooth brown patina mixed with original blue. Blue rates around 20%. Case  colors on frame has turned to silvery patina with traces with case colors. Wood grips are very good with visible cartouches on the right hand side and on the bottom of the grips. Action works well.

Made in 1861. .44Caliber with 8” barrel. Nice sharp gun with clear markings. Gun has an even gray patina. Cylinder still has a lot of the cylinder scene. All numbers are matching . This is an 4 screw frame which was only on the first 31,500 guns or so. Action works perfectly. Grips are very good. Each side has an interesting German silver plate on each side. There is nothing inscribed, and it is almost too small to be a presentation plate. Interesting early 1860 Colt Army.
